Let's be honest: there's something deeply satisfying about buying a bunch of kale from the actual human who yanked it out of the ground that morning. No mysterious supply chains. No produce that's been in a truck for four days. Just dirt-under-the-fingernails freshness and a farmer who's genuinely excited to tell you seventeen ways to cook kohlrabi.

Southwest Washington is quietly stacked with fantastic farmers markets — from year-round urban anchors to breezy gorge-side evening markets that feel like a postcard come to life. Here's your guide to all of them.

🏆 Vancouver Farmers Market (Esther Short Park)

Open Year-Round | Saturdays 9am–3pm, Sundays 10am–3pm (April–October) | Saturdays 10am–2pm (November–March) 8th & Esther St., Downtown Vancouver, WA

The granddaddy of SW Washington markets. This one runs year-round, which means you have zero excuses — not in February, not during a drizzle, not ever. The Vancouver Farmers Market at Esther Short Park is the anchor of the local food scene, offering produce, prepared foods, artisan goods, and that particular kind of contagious weekend energy where you buy lavender honey and a hat you didn't plan on buying.

Pro tip: Show up early on Saturdays if you want the good stuff. The regulars know.

🌽 East Vancouver Farmers Market (Columbia Tech Center)

Thursdays 10am–2pm | June through September 17701 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA

A midweek market that functions as both an errand and a treat. Catch it on your lunch break or on a Thursday errand run — pick up some fresh corn and feel morally superior for the rest of the day.

🥬 Salmon Creek Farmers Market

Thursdays, June 12 – October 2 | 11am–3pm Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, 2211 NE 139th St, Vancouver, WA

Yes, it's at a hospital. No, that's not weird. It's actually a genius location — fresh vegetables and a reminder to take care of yourself, all in one stop. The Salmon Creek market is a North Vancouver neighborhood gem with local produce, prepared foods, and a genuinely friendly vibe.

🥕 Battle Ground Farmers Market

Fridays 2–7pm & Saturdays 9am–2pm (starting March 27) 15 NE Grace Avenue, Battle Ground, WA

Two days a week! Battle Ground really committed to the bit, and we respect it. This market has been a Clark County staple, and the indoor setup means you don't have to wait for sunshine to shop local. Fridays are a fantastic way to kick off a weekend. Saturday mornings are even better.

🌿 Camas Farmers Market

Wednesdays 3–7pm | June 3 – September 30 4th Ave, between Everett and Franklin, Camas, WA

Camas is one of the most charming downtown strips in the region, and the Wednesday farmers market slots right into it like it was always meant to be there. Stroll the tree-lined streets, grab some heirloom tomatoes, pop into a shop, grab dinner. This is what a perfect Wednesday evening looks like.

🌸 Washougal Community Market

Fridays 2–6pm | June 5 – July 31 Reflection Plaza, 1703 Main Street, Washougal, WA

Fresh off a successful pilot program, Washougal expanded its community market for 2026 — a nine-week summer run welcoming farmers, artisans, food vendors, and musicians to Reflection Plaza in downtown Washougal. It's equal parts farmers market, community block party, and excuse to leave work on time. Show up, support local small businesses, and maybe stay for the music.

🍅 Ridgefield Farmers Market

June – September Corner of Mill St & N. 3rd Ave, Davis Park, Ridgefield, WA

Ridgefield is a small town doing big things in the agricultural department. The Davis Park market is tucked into one of the most pleasant settings you can imagine for buying vegetables — shady, unhurried, and the kind of place where you end up chatting for twenty minutes about heirloom squash varieties. No complaints.

🌄 White Salmon Farmers Market

Tuesdays 4–7pm | June – September (2026 Season opens June 2!) Rhinegarten Park, NW Lincoln St & Main Ave, White Salmon, WA

Okay, this one deserves its own category: Most Scenic Farmers Market in the Gorge, full stop. Perched above the Columbia River in the charming town of White Salmon, this Tuesday evening market takes place in Rhinegarten Park — which has a splash pad for the kids, a grassy lawn for lounging, and views that make you wonder why you don't live here already.

You'll find fresh produce, meat, fish, eggs, and locally made goods, plus live music to soundtrack the whole thing. They also accept SNAP with a $25 Match through the Gorge Grown Food Network, making fresh local food accessible to everyone. If you're driving through the Gorge on a Tuesday evening and you don't stop here, that's a choice you'll have to live with.

🌲 A Few More Worth Your Time

Woodland Farmers Market — Friday evenings in Woodland, up on the north end of Clark County near the Lewis River. Small, friendly, and worth a detour.

Stevenson/Skamania County — The Columbia Gorge offers market options in Stevenson as well — keep an eye on community boards and local Facebook groups, as smaller community markets often update schedules seasonally.

Tips for Market Success (from someone who has definitely bought too many peaches)

Go early. The best vendors sell out. This is just the law of farmers markets.

Bring cash and a card. Most vendors now take cards, but cash is still king at smaller tables.

Bring a bag. Plastic bags at farmers markets are essentially a moral failing at this point. You know this.

Talk to the farmers. They know things about food that no recipe blog ever will. Ask how to cook the weird vegetable. Ask when the corn comes in. They love it.

SNAP & WIC are welcome. Many SW Washington markets accept SNAP/EBT and WIC benefits, and several offer matching programs that stretch your dollar further on fresh produce. Check individual market sites for details.

From the heart of downtown Vancouver to a park overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, Southwest Washington's farmers market scene is thriving. Whether you're a weekend regular or just starting to break up with your grocery store, there's a market here with your name on it.

Go get some tomatoes. You won't regret it.

Market hours and dates may vary — always check each market's website or Facebook page before heading out. Because showing up to an empty parking lot is a very specific kind of disappointment.
